Steve Lombardo – Steve Lombardo is an entrepreneurial CPA and a partner with Hegre, McMahon and Schimmel and heads the assurance service department. He is involved in overseeing audits, reviews and compilations for not-for-profit organizations and foundations in a variety of different spaces as well as for-profit businesses in a number of industries such as construction, manufacturing and wholesalers, cannabis, real estate, logistics, start-ups, restaurants, and professional service firms.
He also uses his expertise to assist organizations with their monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and business consulting needs.
In addition to his accounting knowledge, Steve works with business and individual clients to plan for and prepare their tax filings especially in the area of corporate, partnership (has expertise in this area), and individual taxation. He strives to add value to his clients by acting as an adviser and taking more of a consulting approach by discussing their short-term and long-term goals while striving to make valuable introductions to help reach their goals, to increase revenue, or to decrease costs.
Steve has worked with Companies to assist with providing financial projections, consultation on internal controls, tax services, audit compliance services (assisting with cleaning up accounting records to be in compliance with GAAP), and other accounting-related services.
He is also a serial networker and has built many relationships with other professionals in the Chicagoland area. As related to the Organization Steve has worked with numerous not-for-profits from the start-up phase to organizations/foundations with revenues of $100 million-plus with their assurance, accounting, and tax needs.
He was heavily involved in taking over clients as a result of a prior firm merger with Ruzicka and Associates five years ago, a well-known Chicago accounting firm focusing on not-for-profits. He also has experience with Organizations receiving government funding. Steve has expertise in not-for-profit auditing, accounting services, tax services as well as consulting for best practices as related to internal controls, financial planning, and projections and consults with clients to make sure there are no issues that may arise that could affect their non-profit status.
